Career Exploration Programs through YCAL
York County Alliance for Learning (YCAL) offers in excess of 30 career exploration programs per year. The spring semester program offerings will go live in the first part of December. Programs are filled on a first come, first served basis and many fill up within the first few weeks they are open. As a result, it is imperative interested students browse these opportunities now and are prepared to sign up right away in order to secure a spot. For additional details and necessary forms, please visit the YCAL subpage of the District's Career Education Department website (
) or contact Mr. Gay at 717-938-6561 ext 249.
What is the Future Ready PA Index?
The accountability system for Pennsylvania public schools looks a little different this year. The Pennsylvania Department of Education has replaced School Performance Profiles (SPP) with the Future Ready PA Index. The Future Ready PA Index, which is meant to be a more holistic approach to measuring school performance, includes the measures of academic proficiency and growth, along with some new measures such as career readiness and chronic absenteeism.
