Lack of IEP Team Consensus

Anytime an IEP meeting reaches a point in which a consensus is unlikely, adjourn the meeting and notify the Supervisor of Special Education.

Presence of Attorneys or other Advocates in IEP meetings

Case managers are expected to notify the Special Education supervisor in advance of a meeting if they are aware of a parent advocate planning to attend.  Case managers and building administration are not expected to conduct Special Education meetings when advocates attend without support from the Special Educaiton Office.

  • If a parent comes to a meeting with an advocate, the Special Education Supervisor must be notified.
  • If a parent comes to any IEP meeting with an attorney and without notifying the teacher or supervisor in advance, adjourn the meeitng and notify the Director of Special Education.
  • The meeting will be rescheduled when the supervisor and the attorney representing West Shore SD can attend.
