Partnership Between the West Shore S.D. and Central Penn

Goals of the Program

  • To provide students from local school districts between the ages of 18-21 who have completed four traditional years of high school students with college level educational experiences.
  • To promote age-appropriate opportunities to engage in and practice functional academic, social, and emotional skills.
  • To engage students in opportunities to network and establish relationships within the Central Penn college community.
  • To provide experiences which promote independence in everyday life activities
  • To create volunteer and employment experiences for students on campus which support their post-secondary transition interests.

Program Components

  • Mentoring with peers from Central Penn College 
  • Auditing of Central Penn College courses
  • Instruction provided by a West Shore School District Special Education staff utilizing the Unique Learning System and Healthy Relationships Curriculums
  • Collection of data for IEP Goals
  • On Campus Related Services (Speech, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy)
  • Campus Transition Activities with Central Penn Career Services 
  • OVR Pre-Employment Transition Services 
  • Campus independent living activities
