What is Google Takeout Transfer?
Takeout allows you to move your emails and Google Drive files (Sheets, Docs, Slides, etc) to another, non-district managed Google account (sometimes referred to as a “Gmail/Google account”).
How do I use Takeout Transfer?
- Go to https://takeout.google.com/transfer while logged into your CURRENT student account ([email protected]). You can use your Chromebook for this.
- You will be asked to enter the email address of your other Google/Gmail account. Click “Send Code”.
- Check your Gmail account and check your email from Google. You will find a link that says “Get Confirmation Code”. copy or write down the code. Return to https://takeout.google.com/transfer with your @wssd.bz account and type in the verification code, then choose “Verify.”
- Note: Chromebooks cannot connect to [email protected] accounts, you must use a non-district device.
- Select the items you want to transfer, then click “Start Transfer” (note, this usually takes a few hours, but can take up to a week for accounts with large files like videos)
What WILL be Transferred:
- Files in Folders in Google Drive that are OWNED by you
- Shared files that have been “Added to Drive” will be copied but the new file will NOT shared with collaborators
What will NOT Transfer:
- Images stored under “Google Photos”
- “Shared with Me” Files that have NOT been “Added to Drive”
- Google Sites, Google Forms, Google MyMaps & other third-party content in Drive
When you return to your personal Gmail/Google account, you’ll see a folder in Drive that is labeled with your
[email protected] account name. That is where your files can be found.
We wish you the best in all your future endeavors.
