School Social Work Services

About West Shore's Social Work Services

Students and families can be affected by many things in their lives including their home, school and community environments. The District provides Social Work Services to assist students and families with accessing community based services as a way of meeting their basic needs, including food, shelter and medical care. In addition, Social Workers have been instrumental in working with families to ensure students' social and emotional needs are met so that students are able to achieve success across all areas of their lives.

As trained mental health professionals, District social workers provide the following services:
  • Liaison between the students, the school system, the family, and the community as a whole
  • Intervention
  • Crisis response
  • Collaboration with community agencies to provide basic needs, housing assistance, clothing, food, insurance, furniture, etc.
  • Home visits
