Nearpod Introductory Workshop (1)

The purpose of this workshop is to introduce you to the student engagement platform known as Nearpod. With Nearpod, teachers can create live as well as student-paced lessons with immersive activities to gauge student learning and understanding. Teachers will learn how to create Nearpod content & activities, launching Nearpod lessons, analyzing student data reports, and exploring the extensive Nearpod library.

Diving Deeper with Nearpod (2)

Now that you’ve created your first Nearpod lesson, what next? This course is designed to transform the casual Nearpod user into a Nearpod ninja! In this course, learn how to create Nearpod lessons with Google Slides, how to create interactive videos, how to manage your Nearpod profile settings, and best practices with Nearpod.

Nearpod 3 Collaboration Time

Once you have learned how to use Nearpod and had the chance to dive deeper into this student engagement tool, you may then take this opportunity to design Nearpods collaboratively with a department member, co-teacher, etc. Feel free to share your work with others in your building or district wide using the School and District Nearpod libraries.

Dates: February 12 and March 18, 2021

PLN Collaboration Time

This workshop is for teachers who want to integrate more PLN strategies into lessons. This will offer you an opportunity to meet with people who have a strong background in the integration of PLN strategies. Use this time to apply these strategies to your lesson plans to enforce effective literacy skills for your students.

Dates: January 15, February 12, and March 18, 2021

Discipline/Department-Specific (DBQs, OERs, New Adoptions, New Courses, SEL, etc.)

Departments may want to get together for training or workshops specific to the work they do. Examples could include OERs, DBQs and virtual reality for social studies, physical education training for lifetime fitness and outdoor adventure courses, music workshops, trainings relevant to elevating your skills in the content area, trauma informed practices, career and college readiness, etc. If you choose this option and require support please let Dr. Whye know.

Dates: January 15, February 12, and March 18, 2021

Co-Teaching Collaboration Time

Dates: January 15, February 12, and March 18, 2021

Tools for Blended/Flipped Learning Workshops

To continue developing a repertoire of engagement tools to use in a blended or flipped learning environment, browse the list of available tools and select a tool to learn more about via the 6-12 Professional Learning Workshops in Schoology. Take one or more of the workshops and then spend the rest of your PD time designing an activity for your students using the tool. This will be a great artifact for your PLP Schoology Portfolio.

Dates: January 15, February 12, and March 18, 2021

Doceri and Reflector Workshop*

In this face-to-face workshop, we will learn how to use the Reflector app to reflect iPads to the computer, and the Doceri app to not only use as a digital whiteboard, but the computer program piece allows you to also become mobile and untether from the computer when teaching in the classroom. Bring your district-issued iPad and computer along as this will be an interactive workshop where you’ll get the opportunity to practice using both programs with your iPads.

Date: January 15, 2021

Reflector allows teachers to mirror their phone, tablet or computer to the big screen without wires or complicated setups. Teachers can present, teach or entertain from the palm of their hands. Reflector makes it easier than ever to share your device screen.

Doceri is the professional iPad interactive whiteboard and screencast recorder with sophisticated tools for hand-drawn graphics and built-in remote desktop control. Originally designed for teachers, the tool allows teachers to work from anywhere in the room and project presentations, annotate and demonstrate. Teachers can also project student work and problem solving.

*Previously offered in 2019-2020 as the Technology Engagement Tools workshop.
