Teacher Questions

Frequently Asked Teacher Questions

What about students who want to bring their own device - such as different computer?  GoGuardian will not work on those, right?
Students must use the District issued computer at school. The District needs to be able to push applications such as Schoology Lockdown browser, State testing applications, GoGuardian, etc.

Will we be getting rid of the "Bring Your Own Device" policy?
BYOD is still at the discretion of a teacher whether to allow its use or not. We do not want to hamper innovation - especially if the use of student-owed devices is useful to a teacher.

Where can I learn more about GoGuardian? Will there be more training?
If, after viewing the tutorials at https://training.goguardian.com/ , you want some additional support, let your IA know. It is difficult to train face-to-face without "live" students. Your IA can come into one of your classes to show you with the students on computers.

Will we be able to add co-teachers in GoGuardian?
Yes. We will upload instructions in the "Tech Tips" schoology group.

How do we keep the computers safe during PE classes?  Kids don’t always use or lock their lockers
Red Land students have lockers to store them in.
Cedar Cliff students will have a cart outside of the gym to store theirs.

How will students charge their devices in classrooms (if they forgot to charge overnight)?
A surge bar will come with the loaner computers for each classroom.

Will we be doing away with snow days since students now have access to work even from home?
We are considering this in the near future.
