Youth Art Month - Art Connects Us

In March, the West Shore School District participates in Youth Art Month, a nationally recognized celebration of the contributions of young people to the arts.  The theme for the 2020-2021 school year is “Art Connects Us” and the District has embraced that theme by working in conjunction with Lamar Advertising and the District’s Partners in Education, to display 18 billboards showcasing student art throughout West Shore and our neighboring communities.

A Celebration of Women in History

In addition to discussions which will naturally occur during social studies and history classes, the West Shore School District will be celebrating Women's History Month in March.  We encourage our school community to join us in the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in history.

Board Adopts Resolution Calling for Reform of Cyber Charter School Funding

The average Pennsylvania school district spends millions of dollars in taxpayer money annually in mandatory payments to brick-and-mortar and cyber charter schools. These payments are calculated in a manner which requires districts to send more money to charter schools than is needed to operate their programs and places a significant financial burden on districts’ resources and taxpayers. At its meeting on Thursday, February 18, 2021, the Board adopted the following resolution calling for charter school funding reform.

2021 Academic Bowl Competition sponsored by the West Shore Foundation

The Academic Bowl, sponsored by the West Shore Foundation, is designed for students throughout the District in grades four through eight to showcase their general knowledge across a vast spectrum of topics. The competitions consist of double elimination academic contests that stress immediate individual and team recall of factual information in the areas of art, entertainment, geography, grammar & usage, history, literature, mathematics, music, science, sports, television, theater, and world events.

Kindergarten Registration for the 2021-2022 School Year is Now Open!

Registration for Kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year is now OPEN. If your child will be 5 years of age before October 1, 2021, they are eligible to begin kindergarten next school year.

Free Grab-and-Go Bagged Meals

Meal Program Information for the 2020-2021 School Year

All students are eligible to receive breakfast and lunch for free the entire school year.  Thanks to changes in regulations, that includes students who are in person and those who are continuing to work remotely with Distance Learning 2.0. We have also expanded our Grab-and-Go Bagged Meal program to include afternoon hours at select schools. For additional information, please click here.

The District is very pleased to share a completed 3D rendering of the new Rossmoyne Elementary School. We are thrilled to see the conversations and feedback collected from administrators, students, parents, teachers, and the community come to life in this video.  As you watch, we hope you will share in our pride and excitement.
