SCHOOL CLOSURE: Fairview Elementary School – May 15-19, 2021

May 14, 2021 - Due to the current number of active COVID-19 cases, the Department of Health has recommended we close Fairview Elementary School for in-person instruction, athletic events, and extracurricular activities, effective Saturday, May 14, and unless circumstances change and you are notified otherwise, reopen our school on Thursday, May 20. Summer School Applications Now Being Accepted

The West Shore School District is offering summer remediation and acceleration courses at NO COST to students or their families this year. Courses will run from June 10-July 22, 2021 and are being offered entirely online. Interested students must complete all requested information on the online application prior to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 to register. Click here for more details about this year's offerings.

Calendar Update: Last Day for All Students will now be Thursday, June 3

It is now official, the last day of school for students will be a full day of classes on Thursday, June 3. On May 13, the Board of School Directors adopted a revised 2020-2021 school calendar which does not require students to attend in-person or online classes on Friday, June 4, 2021. Professional staff will have a full Act 80 Day on June 4. More +

Celebrating the Class of 2021

On May 6, during the Board Meeting, Dr. Stoltz announced that each of our high schools will hold a single commencement ceremony. We look forward to safely recognizing this milestone in our senior’s academic career, in person, again this year.

Celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

In addition to discussions which will naturally occur during social studies and history classes, the West Shore School District will be celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month in May.  We encourage our school community to join us in recognizing the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States.

Proposed Final Budget for 2021-2022 Available for Review

On May 13, 2021, the Board approved a proposed final budget for the 2021-2022 fiscal year.  The 2021-2022 Final Budget will be presented for approval at the Board of School Directors monthly meeting on June 17, 2021 at 6:30 p.m.  To review the 2021-2022 budget and presentation made to the board during the development process, please visit the Business Department page.

Looking Ahead: 2021-2022 School Calendar

On Thursday, April 15, the Board adopted a calendar for 2021-2022 school year. The first day of school for students next school year will be August 30, 2021, with all teachers beginning on August 24, 2021.  The last day for students, pending an unanticipated extension due to weather, will be an early dismissal on June 3, 2022. Separate commencement ceremonies for each high school are scheduled for June 4, 2022.

Kindergarten Registration for the 2021-2022 School Year is Now Open!

Registration for Kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year is now OPEN. If your child will be 5 years of age before October 1, 2021, they are eligible to begin kindergarten next school year.

Free Grab-and-Go Bagged Meals

Meal Program Information for the 2020-2021 School Year

All students are eligible to receive breakfast and lunch for free the entire school year.  Thanks to changes in regulations, that includes students who are in person and those who are continuing to work remotely with Distance Learning 2.0. We have also expanded our Grab-and-Go Bagged Meal program to include afternoon hours at select schools. For additional information, please click here.
