The Family & Student Learning Resources section of the site provides parents and students with quick links to information related to our Distance Learning program.

Family & Student Learning Resources

Due to our closure, we will not be mass printing third quarter report cards. For information and step-by-step directions on how to access your child's grades in PowerSchool, click here.
Elementary students will complete lessons each day from home. Students will have low-tech, paper-and-pencil options, and they do not need to have a computer to complete assignments. 

Middle and High School teachers will post lessons online each day, which students will check, complete, and submit. Middle School students will also have low-tech, paper-and-pencil options, so they do not have to have a computer to complete assignments. 

We understand that there may be unique challenges for students with disabilities and that this may be a stressful time for our families. Throughout the closure, your child’s special education team will work to provide access to the distance learning framework while supporting IEP goals and objectives. CAOLA students are expected to continue with their coursework. 
If you need assistance with a District issued Chromebook or application on the device, please review our Troubleshooting Guide and if still needed, complete our Student Assistance Form.  
If interested in purchasing a charger for a District issued Chromebook, please refer to the links below for examples of the appropriate charger for each device.

Broken chargers will be replaced by the District for free. Chargers may also be purchased from the District for a flat fee of $20.  Use the form below to order a charger from the District.

Students in kindergarten through eighth grade will have lessons that do not need a computer to complete. For families who are interested, no cost and low cost internet access options are available on our Parent Portal, click here. These options are provided for reference only.  We are not requiring families to obtain internet access.

Family Wellness

We will continue to provide Grab-and-Go Bagged Meals at several locations throughout the district during the distance learning days. For more information, please click here.
In addition to your child’s teacher(s), administrators, counselors, nurses, dental hygienist, occupational therapists, behavior specialists, speech therapists, math specialists, English as a Second Language teachers, literacy specialists, psychologists, special education teachers, and social workers are also available during the day via email. Feel free to contact them as needed to provide support and respond to your questions or concerns.

Continuity of Education

The West Shore School District is committed to providing students with inspiring and relevant experiences so they may live meaningful, purposeful, and impactful lives. To assist with those efforts during the closure, we have developed a Continuity of Education Plan (COE). This plan was presented to the Board on April 7, and available for download below.

Quick Links

Your child's teacher is the best resource to help you with the work your child is completing. Below are additional ways you can access information. 

PowerSchool is the West Shore School District’s online portal for all student information, including report cards, test scores, absences/tardies. PowerSchool is utilized district-wide and updated in real time. Communication preferences can also be set through PowerSchool’s Contact Manager. In this system, parents can review contact information (changes must be made by contacting your child’s school) and opt to receive texts, email messages and phone calls about emergency situations, closings/delays and general information. 

During the closure, please use the Contact Us page if you need help obtaining a PowerSchool account.

Schoology is West Shore School District’s Learning Management System (LMS) where teachers and students can communicate digitally. Teachers can post assignments, facilitate discussions, share resources and communicate important information to students. Students can turn in assignments, access digital resources needed for class, take quizzes and participate in classroom discussions.

All high school staff will be using Schoology accounts.  Some middle school staff have not fully transitioned to Schoology, so middle school teachers will use either Schoology or Google to post assignments.  

The following resources are available to our students through our Clever login: Benchmark Education, ExactPath (Edmentum Courseware), Study Island, Everfi, Science Fusion, Journeys, Collections, ReadingEggs, MathSeeds, and Seesaw. Students should log in with their Google account ([email protected]). If you have difficulty logging into Clever, please contact your child's teacher.

  • Clever iOS App - Students with Clever Badges (typically K-2) can use the Clever App. Sorry no Android App at this time.

Seesaw is a portfolio journal designed to house all of your child’s work in one place. The short 3-minute video linked to below will explain more about Seesaw. Many elementary school staff are using Seesaw to connect with students and their families. If you have difficulty logging into Seesaw, please contact your child's teacher. 
Zoom is an video conferencing program used by teachers to connect with students and parents virtually. A Zoom account is not needed to partipate in a meeting.
