FEBRUARY IS BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Honoring Our Black Heroes
February is Black History Month and we encourage our school community to join us in honoring the accomplishments, innovations, and contributions of black Americans past and present who have helped shape our country. Click here to learn more about the ways we will be honoring black heroes during the month of February and how you can join our celebration.  
 
Special thanks to members of Cedar Cliff’s Colts Anti-Racist Alliance (C.A.R.A.) organization for their assistance in developing our "Honoring Our Black Heroes" poster series and for sharing their voices.

High School Online Course Selection Closes
Wednesday, February 17
Online Course Selection for students who will be in grades 9-12 next school year will close on Wednesday, February 17. If you have any questions about the course selection process, please contact your child's counselor. Course Selection information can be viewed on the District website, click here to learn more.


UPCOMING MEETINGS & EVENTS

Physical Activity and Nutrition Advisory Council (PANAC) Meeting
Wednesday, February 10, 2021, 4 p.m.
PANAC serves as an advisory group discussing issues related to the District’s Student Wellness Policy and providing feedback on District Food Services. Please contact Dr. Argot, Director of Federal Programs, if you are interested in participating in this month's zoom meeting.
 
Staging the Seasons...A Musical Revue
February 18-21, 2021
Red Land High School will present Staging the Seasons...A Musical Revue from February 18-21, 2021. Due to gathering size restrictions, the in person audience will be limited; however, all are welcome to join us online Friday and Sunday for virtual performances.  Please save the date and check our website closer to showtime for live stream information.
 
2021 Academic Bowl Competition
The Academic Bowl, sponsored by the West Shore Foundation, will begin at Crossroads Middle School on February 22, 2021, with fifth grade. Grade level champions will be shared on our website and social media sites following each competition. Good luck to this years competitors.

 
SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS

Following recommendations to limit group gatherings, board meetings are currently not open for public attendance. Public participation is still welcome and encouraged via email and through our live stream. Details can be found on our website, click here.

Kindergarten Registration is Now Open
Registration for Kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year is now OPEN. If your child will be 5 years of age before October 1, 2021, they are eligible to begin kindergarten next school year. Registration is completely online with step-by-step directions on our Registration page. Grab-and-Go Weekend Meal Bags
In addition to the Grab-and-Go bagged meals offered Monday through Thursday, five West Shore schools are now offering weekend meal bags on Fridays.  For times and locations, please click here.
 
Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) Benefits
COVID-19 relief packages passed by Congress contain numerous benefits for families financially impacted by the pandemic. Some of these benefits are only available to students who are eligible for free or reduced-priced school meals.  If you believe your school-aged child(ren) may qualify for free or reduced-price meals this school year and have not yet submitted the application for free or reduced-price meals to the school, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible.
