Good morning West Shore students, staff, and families,
Approximately 280 individuals participated in the 2023-2024 calendar development process this year with 70% of respondents liking the calendar draft. Based on feedback we received from staff, we did make a change in October. Staff members will now have Staff Development on October 6 and will be off on October 9. This change did not impact the student schedule.
I have attached a copy of the Board approved calendar for your reference and planning (see attachment at the bottom of the page). Highlights of the calendar include…
First Day of School for Students
Last Day of School for Students and Staff

Commencement for the Class of 2024
Our high schools take turns each year going first and next school year Cedar Cliff will be followed by Red Land. It is our plan to hold both Graduation Ceremonies at the Farm Show Complex; however, we are still working with them to finalize that schedule. Families will be notified as soon as that information is determined.
Scheduled Remote Learning Days
In addition to staff development scheduled after school and during breaks, remote learning days during the school year enable staff members to learn new skills, collaborate with others, and to analyze student data as it is received. We make every effort to maximize instructional time for students and professional development time for staff members throughout the year, and appreciate the feedback we received on the calendar survey on how we can make these days more meaningful for our students and families.
Thank you to each of you who submitted feedback and participated in the calendar development process. I hope you have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Todd B. Stoltz
Superintendent
