The Board of School Directors met in regular session on Thursday, October 17, with President Crocenzi presiding.
Cedar Cliff High School’s JROTC Color Guard presented the colors for the evening. JROTC members included Senior Thomas Sorrow, Juniors Abigail Delligatti and Aven Sandoval with sophomore Khoi Ngo. Cedar Cliff Senior Lindsay Brucklacher performed the National Anthem.
Minutes
The minutes of the meetings held September 12 and 19, 2019, were approved.
Treasurer’s Report
The Board of School Directors approved the Treasurer’s Report for the month ending September 30, 2019, showing invested and available funds of $59,018,478.47.
Communications
Dr. Stoltz distributed a copy of the latest legal update from the solicitor’s office and Dr. Argot shared the Central Treasury Report for Cedar Cliff and Red Land High Schools.The Board approved the disciplinary recommendations as presented.
Board Reports
Mrs. Tierney provided updates from last week’s Feasibility meeting which included discussion regarding projects at the new Rossmoyne site, Red Mill Elementary, the Red Land track, and the Administration Center. She also highlighted progress on a uniform program for the District Maintenance Department. Lastly, Mrs. Tierney shared an update on the West Shore Foundation Gala and invited the community to bid on the silent auction items.
Mrs. Crocenzi provided an overview of the Board’s recent visit to Allen Middle School. Mrs. Williamson, Mrs. Schwager, and Mr. Saar shared details from their Board visit to Fairview Elementary School.
Mr. Kambic provided a summary of items discussed during the October 16, District Advisory Council Meeting.
Recognition by the Board
Seniors Julia Breneman, Cedar Cliff High School, and Justin Hertzog, Red Land High School, each highlighted recent academic and athletic events from their respective schools, and opportunities they have had in and outside of the classroom during their high school career.
Board Shout Outs
Dr. Stoltz, along with West Shore Foundation President Gib Parthemore and Executive Director Brian Maneely, met with representatives from Pennian Bank. Dr. Stoltz highlighted their discussion with the bank about a potential partnership.
Additionally, Dr. Stoltz shared that WPMT FOX43 will air a segment on the Aquaponics Lab during the Cedar Cliff-Red Land Football Frenzy coverage on October 25.
Lastly, Dr. Stoltz highlighted the District’s participation in Unity Day on Wednesday, October 23. Unity Day is a national initiative in support of bully prevention.

West Shore School District Exoneration of Real Estate Tax for 2019-2020
The Board exonerated itself from paying school taxes on a property the District has purchased at Valley & Beinhower Roads.

The Board approved revisions to Board Policy 830: Breach of Computerized Personal Information.
Staff Attendance at Professional Meetings
The Board of School Directors approved staff attendance at professional meetings as presented.
Red Land Track Change Order #2
An opportunity to improve drainage conditions was identified during the Red Land Track project. Switching the surface material around the outbuilding to concrete would allow better control of the grading. The Board approved payment in the amount of $3,500 to American Athletic Courts, Inc. for change order #2. Mr. Sanders provided details regarding a future change order which will impact change order #2.

Dr. Stoltz introduced Mr. Don Kibler from New Cumberland, who provided an update on the Hillside Park Renovation Project.
Mrs. Stuck informed the Board that the May Board meetings must be adjusted in order to meet the necessary budget adoption timeline. The Board will now meet in regular session on May 7 and 14, 2020. The meeting scheduled for May 21, 2020, will not be held.
