Message from the Superintendent | Cedar Cliff Air Quality Report - April 13th
4/13/2016-4/22/2016 Since my last update on the gas leaks at Cedar Cliff, significant progress has been made to address and remediate those issues. After identifying numerous leaks by pressure testing the system, crews worked systematically to repair fittings, valves, and sections of pipe. Additional shut off valves were also installed increasing our ability to control the flow of gas to the various parts of the system and building. Following the repair work, additional pressure testing was completed before gas was gradually restored to all of the heating units. Crews continue to work in a timely and safe manner to examine and pressure test the remaining portions of the system to which gas has not yet been restored.
As part of our response to these issues, we retained the services of Compliance Management International (CMI) to conduct an Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) assessment between March 18 and 24, 2016. The results of that testing are now available, and in Section 4.0 Findings and Conclusions, CMI states…
“the air monitoring results for the thirteen (13) classrooms in the planetarium and the office were all below regulatory limits and/or recommended guidelines and did not indicate any air quality conditions of concern.” The complete air quality report is available as a related file below. I encourage you to review CMI’s findings and welcome your feedback.
The input of students, staff, parents, and community members is essential during events such as this, and I appreciate those who have taken the time to share their experiences, knowledge, and support. I also want to thank those who have recommended ways to improve response procedures and provided feedback that will help strengthen future District communications.
Sincerely,
Dr. Todd Stoltz Superintendent of Schools
