The District is seeking feedback from parents, students, community members, and staff regarding a proposed calendar for the 2018-2019 school year.  We invite you to view the calendar as an attachment below, and should you wish to offer feedback, click here

CALENDAR OVERVIEW
The proposed calendar for 2018-2019 is based on a starting date for students of Monday, August 27, 2018. The last day for students will be a half-day on June 7, 2019, assuming it is not necessary to extend the school year to make-up missed days.

The calendar draft shows 180 days of classes for students and 191 teacher days. The number of early dismissals, staff development days, Act 80 Days, parent conference days, and make-up days in the 2018-2019 calendar are similar to those of the current school calendar.

Early Dismissal Days - The 2018-2019 calendar incorporates nine early dismissals (not counting the last day of school) for students, with professional staff members using these afternoons for professional development and data analysis. In September and October, early dismissals and staff development days are utilized to review student assessment data and provide training that will guide instruction for the school year.

  • August 31, 2018
  • September 28, 2018
  • October 26, 2018
  • November 16, 2018

  • January 18, 2019
  • February 8, 2019

Early dismissals are scheduled as three-hour early dismissals and will follow the same schedule as this year, which is:

  • 10:45 a.m.- Morning Kindergarten Dismissal and Afternoon Kindergarten Arrival
  • 11:45 a.m.- Secondary Dismissal
  • 12:45 p.m.- Elementary Dismissal (including afternoon kindergarten)

Lunches will be served to students in KAP and grades 1-12 following a modified schedule.

Saturday Graduations -  The draft calendar shows a proposed graduation date for the class of 2019 as Saturday, June 8, 2019, to be held at the PA Farm Show Complex. As is the case this school year, students from Cedar Cliff and Red Land High Schools will both graduate on that day; however, each high school will have its own separate ceremony. One school will hold its commencement in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
