SCHOOL CLOSURE: Fairview Elementary School – May 15-19, 2021
May 14, 2021

Good evening Fairview Families,

Late this afternoon, we learned two members of our school community are presumed positive for COVID-19. The positive individuals, siblings, were last in school on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. Close contacts have been notified by phone.

Due to the current number of active COVID-19 cases, the Department of Health has recommended we close Fairview Elementary School for in-person instruction, athletic events, and extracurricular activities, effective tomorrow, Saturday, May 14, and unless circumstances change and you are notified otherwise, reopen our school on Thursday, May 20, 2021.

What happens now:
  • During the closure, students will zoom with their teachers following a regular school day schedule which begins at 8:45 a.m. Afternoon kindergarten will begin at 12:45 p.m.
  • Close contacts will be notified by phone and may also be contacted by the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH).
  • Individuals who are positive and close contacts will work remotely during their quarantine/isolation period. The District website provides additional information and guidance for families whose child is quarantined: https://www.wssd.k12.pa.us/QuarantineFAQ.aspx
  • Classrooms and any affected areas will undergo any additional required sanitation and cleaning in accordance with CDC, PDE, and PA DOH guidance.

What you can do:
For your reference, the District has established a COVID-19 Tracker to share data on active cases, quarantine numbers, and total cases impacting our District. The tracker may be viewed at: https://www.wssd.k12.pa.us/COVID19Tracker.aspx

Please don’t hesitate to email us directly if you would like to discuss any concerns you have regarding this information.
