Elementary Trimesters
This school year the District piloted trimesters with a group of elementary teachers and families.  The feedback received has been very positive from both teachers and parents and as a result, the 2022-2023 calendar introduces trimesters for all elementary students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The new schedule streamlines the teaching, assessment, and reporting process and results in students receiving grades (report cards) three times a year.

Middle and High School students will continue to utilize four marking periods/two semesters.

Remote Learning Days
Next year's calendar incorporates seven remote learning days for students with professional and support staff members using the day for staff development, data analysis, and collaboration. Students will be counted as present for the day unless parents indicate an absence. Teachers will provide work equal to a half day of instruction with assignments to be turned in the next day students are in person. These days serve an important role in meeting student and staff needs, and because remote learning days are asynchronous, they allow for flexibility at all levels.

Make-Up Days
Make-Up days are those days built into the school calendar to be used if unplanned school closings occur. Similar to this year, our intent is to use remote learning days when weather necessitates a school closing; however, by specifying days as make-up days, the District is given the flexibility to use them should internet, power, or other circumstances make it necessary to cancel all classes on a given day.

Thank you in advance for your participation in the development of next year’s school calendar. I hope you are able to enjoy the long weekend.

Sincerely,

Todd B. Stoltz, Ed.D.
Superintendent
