The West Shore School District will be taking part in the 2023 Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS) sponsored by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs.
During the survey, students in sixth, eighth, tenth, and twelfth grade will be asked questions about their school environment, plus their knowledge and attitudes towards alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, violence, mental health, and more. The results of the survey will assist us in identifying and better meeting current student needs. If interested, you can request a list of the survey questions your child will be asked at:

About the Survey:
- The survey will be given to students during the school day between October 16 and October 24.
- The survey is designed to protect each student’s privacy; it is anonymous and confidential. Students will not put their names on the survey, and no student will ever have their individual responses reported.
- Participation in this survey is completely voluntary. Students can skip any questions they do not understand or choose not to answer. If they have any questions or concerns after taking this survey, they are asked to talk with their school counselor or a trusted adult.
- The survey is well tested, having been administered to over two million Pennsylvania students since the 1990’s.
Student participation in the survey is voluntary; however, we do ask that you notify us in advance if you do not want your child to participate. Kindly do so by Wednesday, October 11, at 4 p.m. using this google form:
