RL Parent Clinic: "Fake News, Phishing and Fraud – An Introduction to Cyber Security"
Starting 9/18/2018 at 7:00 PM
Event Groups:
• Red Land High School - Building Events
Description:
Fake news is never harmless. Lies are delivered and pass for truth, and reputations can be ruined.          Our children need to be protected because they don't always have the experience to distinguish between real news and fake news. Even more confusingly, there are stories which may contain a kernel of truth, but which have biased reporting. Our children don’t know who to trust.         In this one-hour parent clinic, we will discuss how to check to see if a news story is real or fake.  We will also talk about the current phishing scams and frauds attacking us through social media, phone calls, and emails.  We will learn how to check these offers that are ‘too good to be true’ and check the validity of these communications.         Join us in the Red Land Auditorium on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at 7:00 PM. Mrs. Trish Klinger, Business Department Head at RLHS, will be the presenter.
