Information Regarding Support for District Devices Over the Summer

June 10, 2021

Good evening West Shore families and students,

On behalf of the District’s Technology Department, thank you for your partnership this school year. We appreciate your help and patience as many of you found yourself becoming technology troubleshooters and Zoom experts in order to ensure your child could stay connected with their teachers and classmates during remote learning.

While the school year has ended, the Technology Department is available throughout the summer to assist you and your child.  In addition, we wanted to ask for your assistance in obtaining federal funding which will benefit all District families.

Short Family Survey - Deadline June 15
The Pennsylvania Association of Intermediate Units (PAIU) and Penn State Extension have teamed up to conduct a short survey regarding internet access and availability of home devices in an effort to identify areas in the state needing assistance. The data collected from the survey will assist West Shore and other school districts obtain local, state, and federal funding. Please consider participating regardless of your current internet access status. The deadline for participation is June 15, 2021.

Summer Support for District Chromebooks and iPads
All students remaining in the District were permitted to keep their District issued device over the summer.  Your student’s iPad/Chromebook can still access District purchased educational apps/websites and we hope your child will continue to use them to retain the skills they learned this year. Please remind your child about proper care and use of their device so it’s ready and in great condition when they return next school year.

In the event you have an issue over the summer, please complete the Student Device Issue form located on the District’s Tech support page: https://www.wssd.k12.pa.us/DL_Tech.aspx

District technicians will continue to monitor responses to the form and provide assistance in resolving issues.  Usually the issue can be resolved remotely; however, if the device is in need of in-person repair, arrangements will be made for the family to bring the device to the Administration Center for Education located at 507 Fishing Creek Road in Lewisberry.

District Hotspots
If you have a District hotspot, we need to hear from you. Please fill out the survey below so we can provide you with instructions on what you need to do to keep your hotspot functioning over the summer.

Thank you in advance for your continued support.  Have a wonderful summer.

Sincerely,
