Confirmed COVID-19 Case at Lower Allen - October 15, 2020

October 15, 2020

Good afternoon Lower Allen Families,

Today, October 15, 2020, I was informed that one of our Lower Allen Elementary students has tested positive for COVID-19. This student was last in school on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, which was prior to the time when the majority of students returned on October 13, 2020. To do our part in mitigating the spread of COVID-19, we believe it is important to share this information with you.

The CDC recommends you closely monitor your child for possible symptoms for the next 2 to 14 days. The CDC’s website provides a complete listing of symptoms and a self-checker:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html

If anyone in your household begins to exhibit symptoms related to COVID-19, seek medical attention from a health-care provider and please notify the school.

We have contacted the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH) for additional guidance, and following their guidance, only students and staff in the affected classroom are required to quarantine. Parents of those students are receiving a different message this afternoon with additional information. For the remainder of students, school will be open on Monday, October 19, 2020, and prior to opening on Monday, the building will undergo any additional required sanitation and cleaning in accordance with CDC, PDE, and DOH guidance.

As the Principal of Lower Allen, the health and safety of all our students and staff is of utmost importance. Please don’t hesitate to email me directly if you would like to discuss any concerns you have regarding this information.

Sincerely,

Amanda Lerew, Principal
