Good afternoon West Shore elementary families and staff,
Currently, the 14-day active COVID case counts remain above the masking threshold at Fishing Creek, Highland, Hillside, Red Mill, and Rossmoyne Elementary Schools. As a result, masks will continue to be required for students and staff in kindergarten through fifth grade in these buildings.
What happens now:
- District administration will continue to monitor COVID cases and reevaluate the masking requirement on February 13.
- If the 14-day active COVID case count moves below the masking threshold at that time, masks will be optional.
- If the 14-day active COVID case count remains at, or above, the masking threshold at that time, masks will be required for an additional 5 calendar days and reevaluated at that time.
- Based on feedback we have received, families and staff will only be notified when there is a change in masking status. As noted above, this will not change the way we are evaluating conditions.

Good afternoon West Shore elementary families and staff,
Currently, the 14-day active COVID case counts remain above the masking threshold at the following elementary schools:
- Fairview
- Fishing Creek
- Highland
- Hillside
- Newberry
- Red Mill
- Rossmoyne
As a result, masks will continue to be required for an additional 5 calendar days (February 4-8) for students and staff in kindergarten through fifth grade in these buildings. On February 8, we will again reevaluate cases and provide an update on the status of masking at each of these schools.

The 14-day active COVID case counts at all our elementary schools are above the masking threshold and will remain above the threshold through the weekend.
As a result, masks will continue to be required for an additional 5 calendar days (January 30-February 3) for students and staff in kindergarten through fifth grade. On February 3, we will again reevaluate cases and email elementary families with an update on the status of masking at each of the buildings.

Good afternoon West Shore elementary families and staff,
Due to the number of active COVID-19 cases at our elementary schools, masks will continue to be required for students and staff in kindergarten through fifth grade for an additional 5 calendar days (January 25-29).
After those 5 days, cases at each school will be reevaluated again, with the potential for an additional 5 days of masking if the 14-day active COVID case count remains at, or above, the masking threshold.
What happens now:
- Masks will be required during the school day.
- Mask breaks will be provided when students are outdoors, engaged in physical activity, and while eating.
- Masks will not be required for events or activities occurring outside normal school hours.
- Masks will continue to be required when riding school transportation, as per the CDC Order for public transportation.
- Existing mask exemptions will be honored.
- Refusal to wear a mask will result in a student being sent home.
What happens next:
Families will continue to receive email updates on the status of this mitigation effort. Additionally, the District's COVID-19 Tracker provides data on active cases, quarantine numbers, and current masking requirements. The tracker is updated on school days and may be viewed at:

Due to the number of active COVID-19 cases at our elementary schools, masks will continue to be required for students and staff in kindergarten through fifth grade effective Friday, January 14, 2022.
What happens now:
- Masks will be required during the school day.
- Mask breaks will be provided when students are outdoors, engaged in physical activity, and while eating.
- Masks will not be required for events or activities occurring outside normal school hours.
- Masks will continue to be required when riding school transportation, as per the CDC Order for public transportation.
- Existing mask exemptions will be honored.
- Refusal to wear a mask will result in a student being sent home.

If the 14-day active COVID case count remains at, or above, the masking threshold on January 24, masks will be required for an additional 5 calendar days. After those 5 days, cases will be reevaluated again. With each subsequent reevaluation the potential exists for an additional 5 days of masking.
