Transportation Routes have now been uploaded and are available to view in PowerSchool.
We sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding in receiving your student's bus schedule at a later date than you're accustomed to for the school year. Transporting students to and from school safely is our top priority and we accomplish these goals together. Although we have made every effort to avoid errors in the transportation information that has been uploaded, scheduling thousands of students can result in errors. We further recognize the challenges created by the timing of this information release. To that end, here is some additional information on what to do if you believe there is missing data or an error regarding transportation information for your student.
Transportation staff will continue to address errors and provide updates in PowerSchool prior to Tuesday morning. Please email
[email protected] or call (717) 938-9577, Option 4. Upon sending your email or voicemail, please check your child's PowerSchool periodically for updated information.
If you believe there is an error in the data, for example, your child’s bus number and bus stop do not match the information for other children in the neighborhood who are assigned to the same school, please have your student report to the bus stop that matches the others. We have instructed bus drivers to transport children, whether they appear on the roster or not.
If your child is designated as one who walks to school, you will see it reflected in PowerSchool as "Walker."
As in every school year, with new routines established in the morning and afternoon, there could be delays as to when the bus arrives because of the increased traffic on local and state roadways. Please be patient in the first several days, as these routes are new for drivers, and ridership will affect stop times. If the bus is running late, we ask that students wait at least 10 minutes. If the bus still hasn’t arrived, we ask that you contact the school building for any information they can provide.
For general questions about transportation or if your child misses the bus for whatever reason on Tuesday morning, please contact the school where your child attends. We will make arrangements for your child to arrive safely to school. Please note that students and families will not be penalized for late arrivals related to any District-related transportation issues.
Beginning Tuesday morning, please contact the school your child attends regarding transportation concerns. Often, building level staff can answer many questions you may have or assist in finding a quick solution.
As always, we appreciate your collaboration and understanding heading into the start of the school year. Thank you once again as we adapt to our new schools, routes and more for 2024-2025. It will certainly be an exciting time to be a member of the West Shore School District community. We look forward to seeing you all for the start of the school year on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
