On Thursday, November 7, 2024, the West Shore School District will hold its annual Middle School Career Awareness Fair for eighth grade students. The event is open to students at all three middle schools and our virtual learning academy, and will be hosted by Allen Middle School.
As students start to think about high school and their future after graduation, it is important for them to be exposed to different career possibilities. The fair provides students with the opportunity to learn about a variety of careers and speak to individuals working in them.
We are currently looking for businesses to host a table at the Career Fair.
The format for the event is very casual, with students moving through and gathering information on careers that interest them. The District will provide wifi access, a table, and chairs. Please feel free to bring props and marketing materials associated with your career or business. This can be a great way to bring exposure to your company and attract students to a future in your line of work.
We are continuing our efforts to properly prepare students for a meaningful experience at the fair. Staff will review expectations with students and they will all be asking the same types of questions. Those questions could include: your favorite aspect of your job, the most challenging aspect of your job, educational requirements for your career field, classes recommendations for high school and after graduation, what a typical day at your job includes, and how your career field will change in the next five years.
