2025-2026 School Calendar Approved

The Board of Directors approved the 2025-2026 school calendar at the meeting of the Board on February 13, 2025. You may view the file by clicking this link.

Highlights of the calendar include the following:

First Day of School for Students
Tuesday, August 26, 2025
Although the 2024-2025 school year began with a post-Labor Day start, largely due to the opening of the intermediate schools, we will return to a late August start in 2025. While there was some interest in a post-Labor Day start again this year, there were too many constraints in meeting our operational needs and providing breaks throughout the year.

Last Day of School for Students and Teachers
Friday, June 5, 2026
In years past, we have heard from many families that ending in early June was important, especially for those with high school students. In keeping this date combined with the earlier start, we are able to end the year in our customary timeframe.

Remote Learning Days
Next year's calendar incorporates six scheduled remote learning days for students with professional and support staff members using the day for staff development, data analysis, and collaboration. We recognize the childcare challenges these days can place on families; however, these days are incredibly important to ensure our staff plan, prepare, and deliver high quality learning experiences for our students throughout the course of the school year. Additionally, we are often able to pair them with a scheduled break to allow families the opportunity for a long weekend.

As a reminder, remote learning days are asynchronous and allow for flexibility at all levels. Teachers will provide assignments and activities equal to a half day of instruction. Students will be counted as present for the day unless parents indicate an absence.

Make-Up Days
Make-Up days are built into the school calendar to be used if unplanned school closings occur. Our intent is to continue to use weather-related remote learning days when weather prevents us from operating normally; however, by specifying days as make-up days, the District is given the flexibility to use them should circumstances make it necessary to cancel all classes on a given day.

Much like the scheduled remote learning days, we have heard feedback regarding the format (Zoom) and schedule of weather-related remote learning days. We are currently evaluating both the format and the schedule for those days so we can best serve students, staff, and families.

Parent Conferences
We continue to hear from parents and staff that a designated day is appreciated for parent conferences. While conferences can occur anytime throughout the school year and may be requested by parents or teachers, October 31, 2025 is a day designated for parent conferences at all levels.

Commencement
This school year we are holding Graduation Ceremonies for the Class of 2025 on Friday, June 6. Some feedback received during the calendar survey was related to traffic and work-related concerns for families. The amount of feedback related to those concerns thus far seems to be anecdotal and so far has been outweighed by support of allowing families to have graduation ceremonies earlier with a weekend of personal festivities to follow. However, we will be closely monitoring traffic and other factors this year and, if needed, may make adjustments for next school year. At this time, it is our plan to hold Graduation Ceremonies for the Class of 2026 at the Farm Show Complex on Friday, June 5, 2026.
