The deadline for submitting comments is Monday, January 27, 2025, at 4 p.m. After reviewing suggestions received, the Board of School Directors will likely take action on approval of a calendar at its meeting on February 13, 2025.
About the Calendar
The proposed draft has students returning to school before the Labor Day holiday. As you may be aware, last year’s post-Labor Day start was chosen to provide our staff and families more time to transition into the new intermediate school buildings. It is our intention to return to our more traditional start time in August.
The return to the August start date also allows us to maintain the tradition of ending the schedule in early June while lengthening breaks that were shortened in the 2024-2025 school year due to the late start.

Remote Learning Days
Next year's calendar incorporates six scheduled remote learning days for students with professional and support staff members using the day for staff development, data analysis, and collaboration. Students will be counted as present for the day unless parents indicate an absence. Teachers will provide work equal to a half day of instruction with assignments to be turned in the next day students are in person. Remote learning days are asynchronous and allow for flexibility at all levels.

Make-Up Days
Make-Up days are those days built into the school calendar to be used if unplanned school closings occur. Our intent is to use weather-related remote learning days with teacher-led, online Zoom classes, when weather necessitates a school closing; however, by specifying days as make-up days, the District is given the flexibility to use them should internet, power, or other circumstances make it necessary to cancel all classes on a given day.
Parent Conferences
We have heard from parents and staff that a designated day has been appreciated for parent conferences. While conferences can occur anytime throughout the school year and may be requested by parents or teachers, October 31, 2025, is a day designated for parent conferences at all levels.
Commencement
It is our plan to hold Graduation Ceremonies for the Class of 2026 at the Farm Show Complex on Friday, June 5, 2026. Cedar Cliff will go first at 3 p.m. and Red Land will follow at 6:30 p.m.
Thank you in advance for your participation in the development of next year’s school calendar.
