Message from the Superintendent: Information Regarding PowerSchool Data Breach

The District has been made aware of a recent nationwide data breach that impacted PowerSchool, the vendor providing us with student information management software.

On December 28, 2024, PowerSchool discovered unauthorized access to some, but not all, customer data. After a thorough investigation by District technology staff and PowerSchool, we can confirm this incident did not affect any users of the West Shore School District. Your personal data and account information remain secure. No action is required by any West Shore School District PowerSchool users at this time.

We understand how concerning situations like this can be for members of our school community. Our top priority is to ensure the safety and security of our students, staff, and community – both in person and in the online school environment. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and take all necessary steps to protect our community’s data.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the District technology department.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
Todd B. Stoltz, Ed.D.
