Mrs. Rose

Welcome to Room 22

Welcome to Room 22

Summer is coming to a close and the school year will soon be upon us. I'm hoping that everyone had a terrific summer and you are all ready to get back to school. Third grade is an exciting year. We have many special projects planned and so much Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies, Writing, Grammar, and Spelling to share with you. So, welcome aboard and let the learning begin :-)

Our classroom gets extremely warm when the temperatures rise. Therefore it is recommended that your child bring a water bottle to school during those high temperature days. Your child will also need a backpack to carry home all papers, books, and homework :-) All other school supplies will be provided by the district or myself.

We usually have a morning snack around 10:00 AM. The snack should be healthy. If you have any questions about a particular item, please ask. Suggestions for snacks might be: pretzels, crackers, popcorn, yogurt, fresh fruit, dry cereal, granola bars, carrots/celery, trail mix. Cookies, sugary fruit snacks (fruit roll-ups, gummies), cake, candy, chips, etc...are not considered a healthy snack.

Once I receive our schedule for specials, I will post that along with lunch/recess times.

Classroom Management

Classroom Management

"What's Your Color"
Behavior Management Plan

All students have a pocket on a chart with their number on the outside of the pocket. In each student's pocket there are 5 colored cards - one blue, one green, one yellow, one orange, and one pink (representing the color red.) The blue represents "true blue" and is for those students who make good choices. The green represents "growing green" and is for those students who had to stop and think about their choice. They are growing and learning. The yellow represents "caution yellow" and symbolizes slowing down and thinking about your choices. Students will owe 5 minutes of their recess. The orange represents "put the brakes on" and represents danger ahead if not stopped. Students will owe 10 minutes of recess. The pink represents "danger red" and is for those students who haven't thought carefully about their choices. They will owe 15 minutes of their recess and a note will go home in their agenda. The students have the opportunity to earn the previous colored card back if they make good choices for the remainder of the school day. All students start out on "true blue" with the start of each new day.
