Behavior Management

Students will earn "Dolphin Dollars" for making positive choices.  These include "Be Safe", "Be Kind", and "Do Your Job."  They will be able to use their Dolphin Dollars to buy prizes from the class store.
When all students are on-task and doing their jobs, the class can earn “class brownie points.”  I will add a brownie point (or more) to the pan when the class is doing a good job.  When the pan is full, the class earns a reward!  The class will vote on the class reward. Examples might include lunch in the classroom, pj day, extra recess, or any other appropriate ideas that the class chooses!


Below is a list of recommended supplies for 2nd grade:    
Box of tissues
3-ring binder (1 ½ inch wide with clear plastic cover sleeve and 2 pockets in the front and  back of the binder) 
4 two-pocket poly folders with prongs (green, red, blue, yellow)
Box of #2 pencils (not mechanical)  
Pencil bag  
1 yellow highlighter  
1 Elmer’s glue stick  
1 box of crayons (tuck lid, 24 pack)  
2 dry erase markers (black)  
Ear buds or headphones


Students will have the opportunity to have a working snack to eat during class as long as it does not become disruptive.  Each student should bring his/her own snack. Please provide healthy snacks for your child, and avoid sending candy or cookies, or other “dessert items.”  Some healthy snack choices are crackers, yogurt, fruit, pretzels, or snack packs.  Students will not be permitted to share snacks, due to possible food allergies.  I will not provide snacks, so please make sure that you send a snack for your child if they would like to eat one.  
Feel free to donate classroom snacks to share with the class. 
*Please note:  Items containing peanuts, peanut butter, or peanut products may not be consumed in our classroom due to allergies.  Those items must be saved for lunch.  Thank you for keeping our students safe!

Text Reminders: SeeSaw 
I believe that good communication is very important, both with my students and with their parents.  Each student should bring a binder on the first day of school.  We will be putting an agenda, monthly lunch menu, a Specials schedule, and a take home folder in the binder.  (The take home folder will have one side for items that should stay at home and another side for items that need to be returned to school).  You can find the cycle day on the lunch calendar.  This way, students will have all of their important information in one place. For general questions or concerns, I find that corresponding in your child’s agenda book or through email works well.  If you would prefer, you may call me so that we can discuss issues over the phone.  I will also be using SeeSaw.  You will receive information on how to sign up to receive texts with classroom information, student work, picts, etc.  I will make every effort to keep you well-informed about our classroom, but please feel free to contact me with questions, concerns, or comments at any time.
