Mrs. Matincheck

About Me

Mrs. Matincheck
My name is Jennifer Matincheck, and I have been working with children with special needs since 1999.  I received my Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Bloomsburg University and a Master's Degree in Reading at Shippensburg University.  I am a certified K-12 Special Education Teacher and I have a Reading Specialist certificate.  I have been teaching in the West Shore School District since 2002, and have always been able to call Newberry Elementary School "home."  I love the children, families, and staff at Newberry- it's the BEST place to be!
I am married to a wonderful man and have teenage twins!  My daughter Alexis, and son Andrew, are 13 years old and we live in Dover, PA.  This past summer, we got a new puppy named Molly.  She is a Beabull, which is 1/4 Beagle and 3/4 English Bulldog.  The twins and puppy definitely keep me busy!
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, taking walks, gardening, cooking, and trying new "crafty" ideas.  We are a family that enjoys sports, and love cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles at football time!

I have 3 Classroom Expectations:
Be Kind
Be Safe
Do Your Jo
Postive reinforcement is an important part of learning and can be the key to success for some students with special needs.
I use ClassDojo because it provides immediate reinforcement for students displaying expected behaviors such as: following directions, on-task behavior, completing work, working hard, helping others, and many, many more!
If you are not connected to our ClassDojo, please email me and I will help you get connected.  Once connected, you will be able to track your child's behavior and safely view pictures posted to your child's Class Story.

Your child can log in to Benchmark Literacy to complete ELA assignments through their Clever Accounts.  Their Username and Passwords have already been assigned to them, but the reminders below may be helpful in getting them logged into their accounts.
*Student Usernames follow this format: last name, first three letters of first name, and middle initial all lowercase, no spaces. For Example: My name is Jennifer Lynn Matincheck, so my "student Username" would be: matincheckjenl
*Student Passwords are 6 lowercase letters, assigned to them by their homeroom teachers.
Study Island (Grades 3-5)
Your child can log in to this program to practice and prepare for the PSSA exam through their Clever Accounts.  They are able to earn Blue Ribbons as they complete practice sessions.  Please refer to the reminders above for troubleshooting information for student Clever Account access.
EnVision Math Program
(Kindergarten- 5th Grade)
Your child can log in to access math materials, assignments, and games assigned to them.  Power School Accounts should be utilized to navigate this program.  You are able to set up your child's Power School Account by following the directions from the Parent section of the WSSD main web page.
*Student Usernames for Power School should be the same as Usernames for Clever, with the deletion of the extension.
*Student Passwords for Power School and Clever should be the same.
