Informational Message from Dr. Stoltz About Upcoming Safety Drills

March 8, 2018 - In my message to you on February 15, 2018, I shared part of our ongoing efforts to keep our schools safe. Plans have been underway since then to conduct another round of training with staff and students.

Message to our Community from New Cumberland Borough Police Department & Dr. Stoltz

Good evening West Shore Students, Staff, Parents, and Community,

March 1, 2018 - As you will see in the attached press release from New Cumberland Borough Police Department, a serious incident involving threats made by a New Cumberland Middle School student occurred this afternoon.  The District takes any threat to our security and the safety of our students, staff, and visitors very seriously, and in response, we immediately contacted law enforcement to investigate the threat. We would like to thank New Cumberland Borough Police Department and all other law enforcement agencies for their swift response.

Message to our Community from the Lower Allen Twp. Police Department & Dr. Stoltz

Good afternoon West Shore Students, Staff, Parents, and Community,

February 24, 2018 - As you will see in the attached press release from Lower Allen Township Police, it was brought to our attention yesterday afternoon that a serious threat was made by a Cedar Cliff High School student after school hours during the bus ride home. The District takes any threat to our security and the safety of our students, staff, and visitors very seriously, and in response, we immediately contacted law enforcement to investigate the threat.

Message to Our Community from Dr. Todd Stoltz, Superintendent

Good afternoon West Shore Students, Staff, Parents, and Community,


February 15, 2018 - First and foremost, our hearts, prayers, and condolences are with the grieving families in Parkland, Florida today.

Yesterday's incident is another unfortunate reminder of our need to be vigilant in our awareness of our surroundings and our preparation in response to critical incidents, including attacks that threaten our safety. Today, I want to assure you that the safety of our school community is our top priority and that our schools have comprehensive crisis plans in place to guide us through a variety of emergency situations should the need arise.

Message from the Superintendent

Friday, January 5, 2018, schools in the West Shore School District will operate on a two-hour delay with modified kindergarten.
 
Given the number of buildings in our District, the distances our buses travel, and the number of students who walk to school each day, I feel the delayed start to the school day is in the best interest and safety of our students and staff.
