March 10, 2018 - As you may have read or heard, the morning of Wednesday, March 14, 2018, has been identified as a day for nationwide, student-led, civic engagement efforts; more specifically, school walkouts. As a school district, we are neither promoting nor supporting the events scheduled for this date; however, with school safety guiding District efforts, Dr. Stoltz has emailed students, parents, and staff with some basic information to consider prior to Wednesday. March 8, 2018 - In my message to you on February 15, 2018, I shared part of our ongoing efforts to keep our schools safe. Plans have been underway since then to conduct another round of training with staff and students.This letter is to notify you that all schools in the West Shore School District will be conducting Run, Hide, Fight drills the week of March 12-16, 2018.

March is National Youth Art Month and we are celebrating! The District has partnered with 13 business sponsors and Lamar Advertising to organize a community-wide billboard display. This year's billboards feature artwork from all 13 of our school communities. Lamar reproduced each student's work digitally for the Youth Art Month billboards which will be on display throughout the month.

Good evening West Shore Students, Staff, Parents, and Community,March 1, 2018 - As you will see in the attached press release from New Cumberland Borough Police Department, a serious incident involving threats made by a New Cumberland Middle School student occurred this afternoon. The District takes any threat to our security and the safety of our students, staff, and visitors very seriously, and in response, we immediately contacted law enforcement to investigate the threat. We would like to thank New Cumberland Borough Police Department and all other law enforcement agencies for their swift response.
Since the Board unanimously approved Option 1 - the Feeder School Concept in May, the District's Feasibility & Facilities Committee has hosted four design sessions. These sessions, which included administrators, teachers, Board members, parents, and community representatives; produced preliminary design concepts and established major building elements. The District takes any threat to our security and the safety of our students, staff, and visitors very seriously, and in response, we immediately contacted law enforcement to investigate the threat.
