The District's Special Education Department would like to invite you to join us for the 2024 Community Supports Expo on Wednesday, April 24, from 6:30-8 p.m. Unlike previous parent information sessions, the Expo will be held at Central Penn College and is open to parents with students attending West Shore, Cumberland Valley, East Pennsboro, and Camp Hill School Districts. Please feel free to invite friends and family members from those school districts who may benefit from joining us. 

We have been actively working to find those responsible for the offensive graffiti found in one of our restrooms. We’ve increased supervision throughout the building and walk throughs of restrooms. We’ve interviewed students and actively reviewed security camera footage in partnership with our district safety department and the Lower Allen Township Police Department. We have identified the responsible student. The student will have a full accounting for their action.

With a solar eclipse coming to our area on the afternoon of Monday, April 8, 2024, I wanted to share with you the safety measures we will have in place as well as some resources you may find interesting. Weather permitting, the eclipse is expected to be viewable in our area between 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Based on the timing, we will follow our regular school schedule and will not be making any changes to dismissal times or our athletic events/afterschool activities.

March is Youth Art Month, a nationally recognized celebration of the contributions of young people to the arts. Again, this school year, the West Shore School District will be showcasing student art on 18 billboards placed throughout West Shore and our neighboring communities.

During the Open House, you will have the opportunity to learn more about a variety of options available for obtaining your teaching certification and meet with representatives who can help you on your path.

We received 522 responses to the calendar survey this year and on February 15, the Board of School Directors adopted a calendar for the 2024-2025 school year with Tuesday, September 3, as the first day of school for students.
