My name is Matt Wensel and I am the principal at Fishing Creek Elementary School. Prior to coming to Fishing Creek, I served as the Assistant Principal at Red Mill Elementary School.  I previously taught elementary music for 13 years in the Conewago Valley School District in New Oxford, PA.  

I believe deeply in our district’s vision of providing students with inspiring and relevant experiences so they may live meaningful, purposeful, and impactful lives.  My responsibility as principal is to ensure that all of our students find success both academically and socially.  Maintaining a strong home and school partnership with families is important to that success!

I strive to be a visible presence in the building and in the community while putting positive and collaborative relationships at the forefront of all I do.  I am committed to establishing and maintaining a safe, equitable, and welcoming learning environment for all.  I share my passion for learning in many unique ways and find many opportunities to celebrate success with our students, staff, and families! It is not uncommon to see me out and about in the building wearing a crazy hat from my ever-growing hat collection!

I believe frequent communication throughout the school year is very important. I send out a monthly newsletter sharing important dates and information from the building.  I also utilize our school’s Twitter account to highlight what is going on at school, so be sure to follow us on Twitter @FCSharks1 if you are not already.
