Greetings Red Mill Families,
March Madness is upon us. In this madness, our students and teachers remain laser-focused on their jobs – learning and teaching. Developing a goal and plan to achieve that goal are a powerful part of using growth mindset and overcoming challenges. Teachers have been working with our students to show them where they have grown and areas that need work so that they can develop meaningful goals...talk about focus! Students are setting goals and challenging themselves to improve…pretty amazing stuff!
It is hard to believe that it is time for us to start
registering kindergarten students for the class of 2031. Our registration for kindergarten will be on
March 20 at the Administration Center. Please call Red Mill to set up an appointment. You can find more registration by visiting
Join us as we welcome author and illustrator, Kathy
Miller, on Thursday, March 8 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. Kathy Miller will be showing us how to use
backyard nature photography to inspire our writing. In addition, we will learn to explore nature
and to use our observations to create artwork and stories. A light dinner (pizza) will be served after
the presentation. Please RSVP to the
school office no later than Friday, March 2.
Science Night was a huge success! Thank you to our PTO for planning such a fun-filled evening. The experiments, StarLab, displays, Velcro Wall, furry friends…pretty much everything…were awesome. On the horizon is the PTO’s second “Celebration of the Arts Night” on March 22. This event starts at 6:00 p.m. and will wrap up at 8:00 p.m. There are many fun activities planned that cover all of the arts. Come check out all the talented students we have at Red Mill!
School safety is a priority at West Shore. Red Mill will have two drills this month. A bus evacuation drill will be held on March 2. Staff and students will learn about the Run-Hide-Fight response to intruders. During the week of March 12, we will be practicing the “hide” part of Run-Hide-Fight. Please be on the lookout for more information from the District.
We are so proud of our students at Red Mill! Recently
A. Piazza (Grade 3) performed as one of the leads, Michael Darling, in Red Land’s “Peter Pan.”
B. Logan (Grade 2) is a finalist for West Shore’s Future Chefs Culinary Competition by Sodexo. Her recipe for teriyaki style sesame stir fry noodles with lime sounds delicious!
J. Seitz (Grade 5) made the Junior Olympics for swimming.
He will swim the 100 Butterfly and 100 Individual Medley. We are so proud of
A. Althouse (Grade 5) had her artwork selected to be displayed on a billboard in the community for Youth Art Month. We are Red Mill Proud!
Our Academic Bowl teams did an amazing job competing against the other teams from across the District. The fifth grade team finished third. Team members R. Beck, G. Bryson, K. Shelley, O. Magaro, and A. Sadler made us proud.
The fourth grade Academic Bowl Team of R. Concannon, L. Dillman, H. Salada, T. Schussler, and O. Shultz earned first place! We are so proud of all of you!
Our third, fourth, and fifth grade students will be
