My name is Ryan Deveney and I am the principal here at Red Mill. I began my tenure in this position in the summer of 2019. My career in education dates back to 2011, when I started my career at East Pennsboro Area School District. While at EPASD, I served as a special education teacher until 2016. In the spring of 2016, I was fortunate enough to be named an elementary assistant principal here at West Shore SD. It has truly been an honor and a privilege to call West Shore and Red Mill home throughout that timespan! I have my Bachelors Degree and teaching certification in both Elementary and Special Education. Additionally, I have a Masters of Education and Principal Certification.

Red Mill has always maintained a reputation for academic excellence and growth in all areas. We offer a variety of extra-curricular opportunities ranging from academic teams to after-school clubs. We have a VERY active and engaged PTO and school community as a whole. On a monthly basis, our PTO is typically providing some form of activity or event aimed at providing students and their families with fun and enjoyable experiences.

From the moment I accepted this role, I have remained steadfast in always trying to achieve a few important goals:

  • Create a school atmosphere where students want to attend, a school community where families want to reside, and a climate where staff want to work.
  • Similarly, we remain committed to providing students with inspiring and relevant experiences so that they may live meaningful, purposeful, and impactful lives.
In addition to those core beliefs, I greatly value communication, visibility and engagement. Should you ever have a question or concern, I encourage you to reach out to our office team or myself. On a regular basis, I will be updating families on all of the day-to-day happenings here at Red Mill through Instagram & Twitter. On a monthly basis, I encourage you to be on the look-out for our monthly newsletters which are posted to this page and distributed through Email, Seesaw, Instagram and Twitter. I value relationships with our students, families, and community members and always strive to be a visible and engaging presence both here at Red Mill and in the community.

When not at Red Mill, I can be found hanging with my wife Laura, my son Jack, my daughter Adley, and/or my Golden Retriever, Cash. If not with them, I am probably golfing, cheering on Penn State, the Orioles, the Steelers, or spending time with friends & family.

It is my hope that you find this page informative and helpful—we hope to see you soon!
