Practice Group: Red

Group Description and Objectives: This group builds on the fundamentals of proper stroke technique learned in swimming lessons. Swimmers in this group swim practice sets of short and intermediate distances. This group also introduces dryland training that focuses on core, arm, and leg strength.

Objectives of the Red Group include:

  • Demonstrating sportsmanlike behavior toward coaches and other swimmers
  • Demonstrating mastery of forward and backward racing starts
  • Demonstrating mastery of flip turns and open turns
  • Demonstrating an intermediate understanding of goal setting
  • Demonstrating consistent ability to listen to coaches, as well as to learn and make efforts to improve stroke technique

 

Practice Group: White

Group Description and Objectives: This group is designed for intermediate level swimmers. Swimmers in this group will continue to build on the fundamentals of proper stroke technique learned in the Red Group. Swimmers in this group begin to build a strong aerobic base by swimming sets of longer distance and shorter rest periods. This group also emphasizes dryland training that focuses on core, arm, and leg strength.

Objectives of the White Group include

  • Demonstrating a willingness to train and compete in all strokes and distances
  • Demonstrating an ability to maintain positive attitude and focus during workouts
  • Demonstrating an advanced understanding of goal setting

 

Practice Group: Blue

Group Description and Objectives: This group is made up of the highest level of high school swimmers. Swimmers in this group continue to build a strong aerobic base by swimming sets of longer distance and shorter rest periods. Swimmers in this group participate regularly in dry land training that focuses on core, arm, and leg strength.

Objectives of the Blue Group include:

  • Demonstrating a willingness to train and compete in all strokes and distances at the highest level possible
  • Demonstrating mastery of dry land exercises
  • Demonstrating the highest level of respect for coaches and other swimmers
  • Demonstrating the highest level of understanding of goal setting
