Newsies

newsies The musical, Newsies (1992, Disney), has been the musical I've shown to every one of my 6th grade music classes since I started teaching music 17 years ago!  I've had a very small percentage of students who dislike it, but it's been overwhelmingly popular with my classes.

Your child may be begging you for the movie to watch.  It is currently out of the "Disney Vault" and available for regular purchase.  I've had the best luck buying it at Amazon.com, but you can also purchase it from Walmart.com and Target.com.  Best Buy might actually have it on the shelves.  It's usually available on Comcast as a free movie or a movie on Encore, but sometimes it's only available as rental.

You won't find it at Redbox, but the Cumberland County Library has a few copies of it and you can rent it/purchase it from iTunes and on Youtube (Disney Movies On Demand).

I've never spent more that $10 for a copy of it, so if someone on eBay is trying to sell it to you for $50, don't buy it.

There are 2 different versions of the soundtrack - one is from the movie and the other is from the Broadway musical version.
