Welcome to my class website! My name is Jackie Atkins and this school year is my 9th year teaching and in Special Education.  I taught 7 years with the Spring Grove School District as an Emotional/ Learning Support teacher.  Last year I joined the team at Newberry as the Autism/ Learning Support teacher.  I am excited to be back with my Newberry Family this year as the 5th Grade Learning Support teacher.
I am from Pittsburgh, PA where most of my family still lives and I go back to visit often.  I graduated from Edinboro University in 2009 with my bachelors in Elementary Education K-6 and Special Education N-12.  Following graduation, I received my Middle School Mathematics 7-9 certification.  I furtured my education by attending graduate school at Shippensburg University with a masters in Special Education- concentration: Behavior Disorders.
I currently reside in the West Manchester area with my husband, our 3-year old daughter, and a German Shepherd.  We enjoy Pittsburgh sports, doing outdoor activities, reading, and traveling to visit family and friends.
I will be working closely with Mrs. McCullough, Miss Mellott, and Ms. Layton this school year.  I will be in and out of the classrooms supporting all students as well as offering additional support to students in my classroom.  If you would like classroom updates please make sure you are part of my remind by texting @atkins1718 to @81010.
