Cell Phone Policy

Cell Phone Policy

There will be activities conducted in class when cell phone usage is not just permitted but encouraged. These activities would include vocabulary instruction and research opportunities. When such activities are not happening, it is my hope that you are respectful and mature enough to know that your cell phone should not be in use. To that end, for every day that you do not use your cell phone for personal/recreational reasons, but rather only during approved time, I will give you one extra credit point for that day. By the end of each marking period, the total available extra credit points will be somewhere close to forty-five. That amount of points could be the difference between letter grades, and would minimally have an impact on a final average increasing at least a point or two. Participation in this extra credit opportunity is voluntary, but since the expectation is clearly to be respectful and attentive, you might as well benefit from making good decisions. Should you choose not to participate, please know that cell phone use during instructional time is prohibited and will be addressed accordingly.
