The Cedar Cliff Orchestra performs as both a string orchestra and a symphonic orchestra. The orchestra rehearsals daily. In-school lessons are also an important component to the continued quality of the ensemble. At the high school level, students are also strongly encouraged to take private lessons outside of school.
The orchestra prides itself on doing both original classical compositions and also more modern music. The orchestra has recently performed music from Les Miserables, Schindler's List, Civilization IV, West Side Story, Munich, Lord of the Rings and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Original classical works recently performed include Dvorak Symphony #9, mvt. 4; music from Peer Gynt Suite #1 (Grieg); Beethoven Symphony #5, mvt. 1; and Impresario Overture (Mozart).
Recent trips include NYC to see Aladdin, Les Miserables and Lion King on Broadway, Baltimore to see the BSO and free time in Inner Harbor and Disney World to perform and visit the parks!
